Are you over 10 years old? Then welcome, just don't forget to put on a helmet!
On the 20 kilometers of bike trails in the new Borovets Mountain Bike Park there's a place to ride for everyone, from rookie bikers to adrenaline junkies.
Borovets resort, situated on the northern slopes of the Rila mountain in southwestern Bulgaria, about 70 kilometers from Sofia and 120 from Plovdiv, is traditionally open year round. It is Bulgaria's oldest mountain resort, founded in 1896 as the royal hunting preserve.
The new bike park has a lift, Sitnyakovo ekspres, and the facilities for cross country, freeride and all mountain biking. The tracks are going to be further developed over the summer. As the biking routes are interconnected, upon taking only one lift ride, one can bike for some 10 kilometers. The routes have been designed so that while biking, the visitors also can catch a glimpse of the natural and historic sites nearby. If you are looking for company, check out the day-long guided biking tours.
Besides the new bike trails, the opportunities to have fun and keep fit in the resort range from fishing to horse riding to climbing robes in Borolandiya. You can also play mini football, tennis, streetball, volleyball and badminton.
All the summer facilities of the resort have been opened together with the biking park on 19 June. The opening lasted over 12 hours, filled with performances of freeruners, who use the structures of surrounding landscapes to perform movements, wingsuit flyers, who surf the air using special jumpsuits, and wakeboarders, who ride boards, connected to boats.
