The itinerary includes:
Sofia (1 night): arrival, transfer to accommodation
Lovech (1 night): located on the Osam River, this town was an important historic centre during Bulgaria's Revival Period. We will also drive to a small hidden heaven in the mountains
Tryavna (1 night): after delicious homemade breakfast we will stop in the Bojentsi architectural reserve, and then at the historic Shipka Pass and at the Buzludzha National Park. Late afternoon we'll stroll in Tryavna, trying some of its traditional sweets
Veliko Tarnovo (1 night): we will visit the capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire, starting the day with a tour through the Tsarevets medieval fortress. In the evening we will stroll in Tarnovo's Old City
Plovdiv (1 night): our morning drive will take us to Kazanluk, in the Valley of Roses. The location is also known as the Valley of the Thracian Kings, due to its many archaeological sites and the 4th century BC Kazanluk Thracian tomb, a UNESCO's World Heritage Site. You can also visit the oldest functioning distillery for rose and lavender essential oils. Then we will depart for Plovdiv, the European Capital of Culture for 2019
Sofia (1 night): in the morning we will explore Plovdiv's rich past that started in the Neolithic, in the 6th millennium BC, and its rich mixture of ancient remains like a Roman stadium and theatre, and Revival Period architecture. We then leave for Sofia for your departure next day.
You can extend your trip with full day tour of Sofia and the Boyana Church, Rila Monastery, etc.
